ShopTo has announced its annual results for 2016 and it’s been a pretty successful year for the online UK retailer.
Total sales were up 13.2 per cent year-on-year, thanks to the company increased focus on securing new customers at the start of their gaming life cycle,” the firm said in a statement.
Hardware sales increased 16.3 per cent year-on-year, while software was up 15.6 per cent. Both are are impressive numbers given the fact it’s been a pretty bleak year for UK retail.
ShopTo also diversified its offering over the last 24 months, and introduced new categories such as electronics and cycling, which both saw substantial growth. Electronics grew 27 per cent year-on-year in 2016, while cycling sales were up by an impressive 176 per cent.

"We pride ourselves on fantastic customer service, and our ability to provide our customers with more products will help us do this in other ways. As part of our mission to offer more, we recently launched the beta of ShopTo Marketplace, allowing professional merchants to sell directly to our customers. We believe there is opportunity for a UK grown marketplace with all the customer benefits we have built our business on.”
ShopTo has been continually experiencing growth these past few years, with its market share increasing 45 per cent back back in 2012. The UK retailer then expanded its digital offering at the end of 2015 which apparently has been a very successful strategy.
