Battlefield Hardline studio losses staff members as team focuses on DLC and Star Wars

‘Small staffing change’ means layoffs for Visceral Games

Visceral Games has suffered a small number of layoffs as the studio’s focus shifts to new projects.

The developer’s parent firm Electronic Arts has emphasised that the number of redundancies made is small, and clarified why they were necessary, according to Game Informer.

“We made a small staffing change in our Visceral studio today to support the needs of the studio’s two currently development priorities: content for Battlefield Hardline Premium and an unannounced Star Wars project,” the publisher said in a statement.

“We are working to ensure the smoothest transition possible for the impacted employees.”

Last month, the studio’s general manager Steve Papoutsis left after nearly 15 years on the team.

The mysterious Star Wars project Visceral is working on is being developed under the watchful eye of Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig.
