Soedesco partners with Kokku for Truck Driver’s ‘post-release’ support

Developer and publisher Soedesco has shifted “post-release” support and development of Truck Driver from Dutch studio Triangle to Kokku.

“Kokku shares the same vision we have and they are committed to making that a reality,” said Hans van Brakel, executive manager at Soedesco via a press release. “This move will expand the opportunities for Truck Driver on the long term.”

“We’re beyond excited to join forces with Soedesco for Truck Driver,” said Thiago de Freitas, CEO of Kokku. “We’re going to bring our expertise as a AAA developer to meet community expectations and deliver the experience they deserve. It’s going to be a long journey together so, make sure to fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride!”

Brazilian developer Kokku – which was founded in 2011 and recently expanded into China – has previously worked on titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, and Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure.

Looking ahead, Soedesco says it’s been listening to the Truck Driver community and has already made some changes, including steering wheel support. The main focus of Soedesco and Kokku is to resolve the remaining issues, after which work will commence on much-requested feedback such as “map expansion, traffic, more trucks, better AI and more”.

Dutch developer Soedesco revealed in July it had opened a second studio, expanding its development team beyond its inaugural premises in Rotterdam to Pilsen, Czech Republic. A press release from the company says the additional office “is striving to develop interesting new content fit for the next generation of gaming, such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Project Scarlett and Google Stadia”.

Maximum Games announced an exclusive distribution partnership with Soedesco to become the company’s UK and Irish distributor back in January 2019. Titles under the agreement include the 8-Bit franchise – 8-Bit Armies, 8-Bit Hordes and 8-Bit Invaders – film noir horror game Dollhouse, futuristic racer Xenon Racer, survival horror Monstrum, and console truck simulator, Truck Driver.
