SCEE offering to cover course fees and provide work at one of its in-house studios to successful applicants

Sony academic program to fund Gamer Camp scholarships

Sony’s PlayStation First academic program is to fund four scholarships for students applying to Birmingham City University’s Game Camp Masters degree courses.

The scholarships are offered specifically to students on the MA/MScs in video games development and MSc in video games enterprise and production.

Two of the scholarships will cover course fees in full, while the other two will cover half.

Students will also be offered the chance to work at one of Sony’s in-house studios.

Students who apply before July 17th will automatically be considered for the scheme. Applicants will then be shortlisted for interviews with DriveClub developer Evolution Studios, which will award scholarships to students “who show the most potential”.

“PlayStation First works in partnership with select universities in the UK and Europe as we see the development of new development talent in the UK crucial to the continued success of our European studios and the wider video games industry,” said SCEE Head of academic development Maria Stukoff.

“Gamer Camp students get hands-on development studio experience using our professional PlayStation 3 development kits, it’s these industry-specific abilities which makes the students job-ready for PlayStation studios and other game developers.”
