Sony details its PlayStation E3 press conference

The PlayStation E3 press conference timings have been announced for 2am on Tuesday June 12th. A familiar time for those used to staying up late to discover the latest developments from Sony’s first party studios and publishing partners. What won’t be familiar this year, however, is the heads up that we’ve been given for what to expect at the show. The PlayStation Blog has outlined the press conference’s key offerings from Sony’s Worldwide Studios.

Namely, these are “exclusive looks” at Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding, Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima and Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us Part II. Four hefty games which between them should form a nice venn diagram that covers the majority of the audience’s tastes. It’s nice to be given a heads up on these games being included in the show, though it’s intriguing to see the platform holder seemingly managing expectations regarding new announcements.

The blog post does mention “stellar announcements from third-party publishers and independent developers”, but nothing about any new games being shown from Sony itself, which would be another unfamiliar turn for the company. It’s also intriguing to see Media Molecule’s Dreams missing from the listing. No doubt there will be plenty of games to see and learn from during the show and we can spend all day trying to decide if it’s a bluff or a double bluff. Regardless, with the games listed above already confirmed it’s clear this will be a showcase worth tuning in for. Even if it is at 2am.
