Sony not releasing Tearaway at retail in India

Sony will not release Media Molecule’s PS Vita debut Tearaway at retail, it has confirmed.

The game was listed at various online stores, and as we reported a few days ago, there was quite a disparity between that suggested retail price and the price of the digital version on PSN.

Sony’s decision to skip a retail release for Tearaway is the latest step in its increased push towards PSN. It has also been heavily promoting PlayStation Plus via email newsletters and social media lately.

However, it’s also possibly an indicator that the PlayStation Vita isn’t faring too well in India. PlayStation India country manager Atindriya Bose told MCV last year that Sony sold about 500 to 800 units of the Vita in India every month.

It’s been tough because unlike the other markets, Indian consumers aren’t very inclined towards multiple ownership. Those who are picked up the Vita at launch,” Bose had said.

Tearaway is up for preorder on PSN, and will release on 22nd November.
