SONY: Remaining PS3 release lineup to span multiple years

Sony’s John Koller is forecasting no shortage of new Playstation 3 titles, as the company has reiterated its proposed ten year plan for the console.

The firm’s VP of marketing reveals plans for a two to three year lineup of new releases coming to a console with already a half dozen years under its belt.

"Over the next 2-3 years, the PS3 has got an incredible lineup," Koller told Gamespot.

One of the main reasons for the robust schedule at this stage in the console’s lifespan is, as Koller describes, an incredibly active development spigot.

"We’re going to continue supporting the PS3 for the next few years. Absolutely," Koller told Gamespot. "And we’re going to continue supporting it not only that long, but as long as there is a development spigot that’s running hot. And I can tell you right now, the development spigot for PS3 is very hot. A lot of great games coming."

Koller also points to the Playstation 2 and its batch of late-yet-great releases that saw acclaim despite being launched after the console was no longer definitive. While Sony’s release window for their latest hardware is still murky, it’s clear they intend to continue support for the PS3 well beyond that point.
