Sony reveals US PSP promotions

SCEA has named a number of titles that will see their prices at retail slashed as Sony steps up its handheld efforts in the face of struggling sales in the West.

The move mirrors SCE UK’s recent statement of intent, having claimed that rejuvenating the handheld remains one of the platform holder’s top priorities. This was backed up with an aggressive free-games promotion for new PSPgo owners.

Sony America has now revealed a PSPgo offer of its own. It doesn’t go as far as the UK effort, offering just three free games to new owners – LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters.

On the UMD front, Sony has named nine first party titles that will see their prices slashed to just $9.99 – SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3, LocoRoco 2, Patapon 2, PixelJunk Monster Deluxe, Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow, Buzz: Master Quiz, Twisted Metal: Head On, Everybody’s Golf and Ape Escape: On the Loose.

A number of third party games will also be joining the UMD promotion, including Silent Hill: Origins (Konami), The Sims 2 (EA), Justice League Heroes (Warner Bros) and Rockstar pair Manhunt 2 and The Warriors.

A further four Sony titles – LittleBigPlanet, Secret Agent Clank, Resistance: retribution and Gran Turismo – will join the $19.99 Greatest Hits range.
