SONY: SF X Tekken lands on PSVita

Street Fighter X Tekken will arrive on the upcoming Sony PlayStation Vita handheld as well as Xbox 360 and PS3.

The beat ‘em up is the result of a collaboration between Capcom and Namco Bandai. The latter publisher will also release its own version, Tekken X Street Fighter. Characters from both series will appear in each game.

Capcom’s Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono graced the Sony stage at E3 2011 with an early build of Street Fighter X Tekken on PSVita. He played through a fight between classic Street Fighter character Ryu and Cole – a new character established in Sony’s Infamous game franchise.

Today’s announcement is that we’ve decided to move forward with a PSVita version of Street Fighter X Tekken,” Ono said.

We’re also happy to announce that Cole from Infamous will be joining fighters of Street Fighter and Tekken. We feel that Cole’s electrical moves will fit nicely into our game.”

Street Fighter X Tekken on Vita will also feature simple button commands that Oni said will open the game up to a wider audience”.

PlayStation Vita will launch this Christmas. A release date for Street Fighter X Tekken has not yet been announced.
