Sony is set to announce a price drop for the PlayStation Vita as well as its memory cards, the company has announced to retailers.

The price drop for the handheld only applies to the Wi-fi version. It is currently priced at Rs 19,990, and will drop down to Rs 16,990. No price drop is announced for the Wi-fi/3G version.

PS Vita memory cards will also get a price drop. Here are the new prices (old prices in brackets)

  • 4 GB – Rs 1,199 (Rs 1,599)
  • 8 GB – Rs 1,599 (Rs 2,799)
  • 16 GB – Rs 2,799 (Rs 3,999)

The new prices are supposedly in effect starting today.

Sony India has not made an official announcement on the PS Vita price drop just yet, but is expected to do so in the coming days.

Sony recently announced a slim PS Vita for the Asian markets, but we have no word yet on an Indian release.
