Sony’s Music Unlimited app hits iPhone this week

Sony’s cloud-based music service application Music Unlimited will arrive on the Apple App Store this Friday, the company has announced.

The new app allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to listen to their music library, channels, and playlists, add songs to said playlists, discover related artists and tracks, and browse genres.

We want to let users pick up their favorite device and crank up the Music Unlimited service at any time,” said Michael Aragon, Vice President and General Manager of Digital Video and Music Services, Sony Network Entertainment International. With the addition of the new iPhone and iPod touch app, users with a Basic or Premium subscription can listen to their favorite songs across a number of the most popular connected devices – in and out of the home.”

The iOS application hits May 25th, and is currently available on PS3, Vita, BRAVIA TVs, and tablets and smartphones for Android such as the Sony Xperia.

Update: Article has been edited to remove the ‘free’ description. While the Music Unlimited application itself is free to download, the service carries a monthly subscription cost.
