Spencer: It’s time for us to talk about gaming on Windows

It appears that Microsoft is once again going to try and get PC gaming right.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said on Twitter that: I’ll be focusing more on what we are doing on Win10 in January, it’s time for us to talk about gaming on Windows.”

The Verge reports that a leaked version of Windows 10, meanwhile, not only integrates Microsoft’s new digital assistant (and long-term halo star Cortana) but also includes an in-built Xbox dedicated app.

The site says that the app it appears to act as a gateway to the entire Xbox ecosystem, including access to achievements, friends lists, activity feeds, and the Store”.

Also interesting is the integration of media content such as music and video alongside apps, suggesting that the Xbox Music and Xbox Video stores will be hard-wired into the OS.

Microsoft has for some time been making promises about renewing” its focus on PC gaming, along with the pledge to continue supporting the struggling Games for Windows Live service.

In the summer the platform holder insisted that PC gaming is critical” to Microsoft, despite failing to feature in any way as part of its E3 presentation.
