Star Citizen flies past Kickstarter goal

Chris Roberts’ crowdfunded space simulation project Star Citizen is on a roll.

After initially deciding not to include Kickstarter as part of the $2m funding effort, a change of heart has paid off huge for the developer.

The game has surpassed its $500,000 goal with 26 days still remaining – meaning so far it has amassed an average of $100,000 per day through the crowdfunding site.

The project is still slightly underneath its total goal of $2m, but there’s every reason to believe that the Kickstarter push along with the donations collected via the Roberts Space Industries site will have it well beyond the target figure when it’s all said and done.

Check out Develop’s interview with Roberts that touches on the game itself, the cutthroat mobile market, and more.
