Iain McCaig keynote to discuss the tricks and demands of world class art design

Star Wars artist to keynote Develop Conference

The Star Wars artist responsible for designing the Darth Maul and Queen Amidala characters is to keynote the Develop Conference.

Iain McCaig, who worked for Lucasfilm as a principal designer on Star Wars Episode One, Two and Three, will headline the event’s art track.

McCaig’s presentation, named ‘Showtime!’, will explain how artists can build visual icons despite troublesome demands from clients.

“The best way to understand visual storytelling is to do it,” McCaig said.

“In this talk, the audience and I will roll up our sleeves and create a story and characters who inhabit it.”

“’Showtime!’ deals with issues that affect both film and games industries, challenges such as crafting storylines that are familiar but new; epic on a tiny budget or from the heart with a great storyline.”

The Develop Conference takes place from Tuesday July 19th to 21st. The event will open with a keynote from Andrew Wilson, the senior vice president of worldwide development at EA Sports.

Another headline talk will be from the Moshi Monsters maestro Michael Acton-Smith.
