Writers Guild of America crowns LucasArts' action-adventure as best writing of 2008

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed wins WGA award

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has been awarded the Writers Guild of America’s Videogame Writing prize.

Writers Haden Blackman, Shawn Pitman, John Stafford and Cameron Suey were given the prize during an awards show conducted simultaneously in LA and New York by the West and East branches of the WGA.

The game beat Bethesda’s Fallout 3, EALA’s Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider Underworld and Mousechief’s Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble to get the prize. Only games written by members of the WGA’s New Media Caucus were eligible for the prize, although this year submissions were allowed from companies that joined the Caucus at the same time as entering their game.
