Stardew Valley passes 1m sales in under two months

Quirky farming simulator Stardew Valley has sold more than a million units just over a month since its launch.

The PC game hit Steam on February 26th and quickly rocketed up the charts – in fact, it appears to be the second best-selling paid title of the year so far on the platform, after zombie survival hit H1Z1: King of the Hill, according to data tracker SteamSpy.

Eric Barone is the one-man studio behind the Harvest Moon spiritual successor, which racked up more than 500,000 sales in its first two weeks alone.

Publisher Chucklefish confirmed to Polygon that the game had passed one million sales (it’s actually topped 1,007,000).

It added: “"It’s been really exciting for us to help bring this game to people’s attention, and the success really couldn’t have come to a more deserving person."

Barone previously told Develop sister site MCV that he was considering a console release for the currently PC-only title.
