Steam VR service launches in beta

Valve has announced the beta launch of its Steam service for VR platforms, including the Oculus Rift.

Valve programmer Joe Ludwig took to Steam’s community pages to post instructions on how any Steam user with VR headset can utilize the service’s Big Picture mode to play games that carry VR support.

Ludwig indicated the new offering is still in the early stages, and will likely see heavy refinement based on user feedback leading up to an eventual official release.

The company also plans to show off its own VR headset this week in Seattle as part of its Steam Dev Days conference. The conference, which is open to developers only, runs through tomorrow.
