Stonetrip’s ShiVa Editor 1.8 goes public

French tools company Stonetrip has released the 1.8 version of its ShiVa Editor tech.

Designed to allow studios to create and publish games and apps using the ShiVa development platform without compulsory content such as splash screens, the Editor comes with a free SDK for Windows, Mac, Linux and iPhone.

The 1.8 edition promises to provide for the increasingly demanding capabilities of mobile and desktop devices, catering for depth of field, velocity blur, cascaded shadow map algorithms, infinite ocean simulation, dynamic textures, video streaming and voice-over-IP.

“The ShiVa engine is 50 per cent faster than the previous version,” asserted Nicolas Peri, Stonetrip CTO.

“As we focus our future development on iPhone OpenGL ES 2.0 and Linux-powered mobile systems such as Android, we have to provide the highest-quality engine,” added company CEO Philip Belhassen.

To promote the update Stonetrip has introduced its ‘Binary promotion’ deal. The ShiVa Unlimited packaged, created for indies, is priced at €128 instead of €169, and ShiVa Advanced, the full-spec edition is priced at €1,024 instead of €1,499 per license and for a limited time.

Based in Sophia-Anitopolis in France, Stonetrip has been designing and distributing development tools since 2007.
