Mobile game network’s library has hosted 76bn game sessions

Storm8 racks up 1bn downloads, rebrands as Storm8 Studios

California-based Storm8 has announced that its portfolio of games has been downloaded more than one billion times.

The mobile games network is best known for casual titles such as Restaurant Story and has attracted hundreds of millions of players. Between them this audience has also racked up 76bn game sessions, amounting to more than 2bn hours of gameplay.

“One billion downloads is a huge milestone, unmatched by most in the mobile market, and representing nearly six years of hard work,” said Storm8 CEO Perry Tam. “We wanted to mark it in a big way, by celebrating the most important reason for our success: Storm8 players.”

As such, Ohio resident Amanda Snider – the first player to download Restaurant Story 2 – has won 1bn gems for the game, a new iPad Mini 3 and the chance to appear in the game as one of the characters.

Meanwhile, Storm8 took this opportunity to rebrand, bringing all of its game brands together under the new name Storm8 Studios.

“We knew we had something special when we founded Storm8,” said Tam. “Since then, we’ve grown from a self-funded start-up into a thriving mobile network of more than 45 games.”

Storm8 is currently recruiting at GDC. You can find them at Booth No. CC2212 in the Career Center.
