Story Studio releases UE4 assets for Henry VR trailer to devs

Story Studio has released its VR trailer for Henry and a number of Unreal Engine 4 assets for the project to developers for free.

Built for the Oculus Rift, the trailer stars a hedgehog named Henry and is narrated by Elijah Wood. The actor’s previous works include The Lord of the Rings, Happy Feet and Double Fine’s Broken Age. The full animated short for Henry will be released early next year.

The team said it hopes other developers will be able to learn more about development and projects like Henry through the shared UE4 assets. These only be used under a creative common licence for non-commercial use.

“It is small in scope and concisely shares how we organise our assets, how we control Henry’s gaze through blueprints, and how a stylised character can be designed and animated,” read a statement from the studio.

“The project also contains a few extra Easter egg assets from Henry’s world that aren’t used in the trailer but may be useful for your education or prototyping.”

The UE4 assets can be downloaded on GitHub. You will need to sign in to GitHub with a registered Unreal developer account to gain access to the link, otherwise it will display a 404 error. You can find further details on the release on Story Studio’s blog.

Story Studio added that Henry is the first of several projects it plans to make available to developers.
