Bithell Games’ surprise release, Subsurface Circular, is on its way to the Nintendo Switch in just a couple of weeks. The text-based adventure game has enjoyed critical success so far on both Steam and iOS, and founder Mike Bithell believes that Nintendo’s portable-but-not is the perfect home for it.
“Nintendo Switch is an ideal platform for players to experience Subsurface Circular, a game perfectly suited to playing on an actual train,” says Mike Bithell, founder of Bithell Games. “Nintendo has displayed a commitment to the success of independent gaming on Nintendo Switch, and we’re thrilled to join their expanding library of games.”
The Nintendo Switch port of Subsurface Circular was created in partnership with Scotland-based indie developer Ant Workshop. It’s the first title in a series of planned ‘Bithell Shorts’, which I’m assured are shorter game experiences designed for single play sessions, and not Mike’s discarded legwear. The Switch version will be available on March 1st for just $5.99.
“We have admired Mike’s work for a long time, and were thrilled at the opportunity to team up with Bithell Games to adapt the game onto Nintendo Switch,” says Anthony Gowland, founder of Ant Workshop. “We have a lot of love for the Switch at Ant Workshop, and wanted to make the most of the platform to bring Subsurface Circular’s thoughtful story to a new audience.”
