Super Smash Bros Wii U to use NFC figures – report

Nintendo’s NFP model figure collection will apparently be a feature of the new Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo unveiled its NFC-based platform earlier this month, and now CVG reports that Nintendo of France managing director Stephan Bole will make use of the tech.

"On the output side of games produced by Nintendo, there will obviously be the fighting game Super Smash Bros,” he told Le Figaro. E3 is also an opportunity to show the use of NFC technology in Nintendo consoles. The NFC will be used in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros."

If true, the report raises many questions. Will game features be locked away behind the purchase of these additional figures? Or will there be an extra NFP game mode that’s kept separate from the main game? Will players will be able to pay-to-win” by unlocking extra characters and powers via the figures?

Expect more to be revealed next month at E3.
