Mobile and desktop revenues for Blizzard's card battler down both month-on-month and year-on-year

Superdata research: “Hearthstone is killing itself”

Research outfit Superdata has released its worldwide digital games market report for February, and their key takeaway is a damning one: "Hearthstone is killing itself."

According to reports, Hearthstone’s iOS and Android revenues for February are at their lowest point since the game launched, down significantly for both year-on-year and month-over-month figures.

"Recent gameplay decisions have been unpopular with the Hearthstone community, and the result has been a sharp decrease in conversion on mobile," say Superdata.

The desktop version of Hearthstone has also seen revenues fall, although not as harshly as they’ve fallen on mobile.

Global digital revenues are up this month, a 4% bump to $7.83 billion. Superdata say that mobile revenues are up "slightly", while consoles have experienced a massive 18% leap, which Superdata have attributed to higher selling prices for games sold on the consoles’ digital storefronts.
