Longstanding UK studio Team 17 is taking over certain assets from Iguana Entertainment, starting with immediate effect.
As part of the move some staff from Iguana, which was founded in 2009, will move to Team 17’s Wakefield office. As part of the reorganisation, two new senior management roles have also been created at the studio that created the original Worms.
Iguana founders Jason and Darren Falcus have been appointed as Team 17’s head of studio – development and senior manager, business development department respectively.
Iguana has in recent months been working on Worms Social, taking the Team 17 property to Facebook, as well as on three unannouced social titles and a console game.
“We are delighted to welcome Jason and Darren to Team 17," said Debbie Bestwick, managing director at Team 17. "They bring a wealth of cross-platform knowledge across an array of genres. Iguana is a young and highly talented studio with an established base of skills and experienced staff.
"Their more recent experience within social games and Facebook development in-particular makes them an ideal fit for Team17 as we expand further into digital, mobile and web development. Jason and Darren will play a key part in fulfilling our future plans for the company, with their industry and gaming knowledge. It is great to have them on board.”
“Joining Team17, a studio with such a heritage of making great games which people clearly love to play is an exciting prospect. I look forward to working with Debbie on expanding Team17 into exciting new areas and products," added Darren.
“Team17 has always been synonymous with creating quality, internationally successful games, and I am also relishing the opportunity to be working with their talented studio on some fantastic new games and projects," concluded Jason.
It is not know whether all of the Iguana staff and assets are now with Team 17.
