Team Liquid field star PUBG roster

Team Liquid has entered PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, picking up four well-known players to compete at the forthcoming Gamescom invitational.

Team Liquid are well known for their work in League of Legends, Overwatch and Hearthstone, and they join TSM and Cloud 9 as endemic esports organisations throwing down in the forthcoming Gamescom Invitational Battlegrounds tournament.

The players on the team are Oliver ‘Ollywood’ Tell, Björn ‘Molnman’ Jansson, Daniel ‘Hayz’ Heaysman and ‘Scoom’, who wasn’t named in the press release beyond the handle.

Tell is well known, and snatched a win during the Dreamhack Open in 2017 duo tournament, after fighting off Jansson and Scoom. It’s an all-star roster for the organisation, but it has to be, as all eyes will be on the Gamescom Invitational to see which esports organisation comes out on top.

“While many other teams have sought stream-focused team rosters, we decided to seek the most talented players on the Western servers," said Steve Arhancet, Team Liquid’s co-owner, in a statement on the organisations website.

"Scoom, Molnman, Hayz and Ollywood caught our attention with their insane stats and likable personalities. We want to support these players so that they can place highly in the competitions to come. PUBG is still in the early stages of its life and the meta and balance are still evolving, and it will be exciting to see how the game evolves."

They probably won’t be the last endemic organisation we see getting involved with PUBG before the Gamescom Invitational. It’s a big event with the Battlegrounds community paying it a lot of attention, so it’s a good platform to launch a roster from.

The PUBG Invitational will take place from August 23 to August 26 in Cologne.
