Team Ninja is making the next Dissidia Final Fantasy game

Square Enix has confirmed that Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja studio is to develop a Dissidia Final Fantasy title for arcades.

Siliconera reports that the announcement was made at the Closed Conference 2015 event in Japan, attended by Sony Computer Entertainment president Atsushi Morita. He confirmed that the game is being built using PS4 tech.

When pressed on the likelihood of a PS4 port, Morita said that nothing has been officially announced and they hope fans will first enjoy it in the arcades. So yes, then.

In fact a Square Enix rep even went one further by saying that console development won’t start until after the launch of the arcade version.

The first machines will be rolled out to select locations as soon as next week.

Dissidia Final Fantasy was released on PSP in 2009. A successor, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, was released in 2011. Both are combat as opposed to RPG orientated, with players facing off against opponents in large 3D spaces.
