Both Team Secret and team captain Clement "Puppey" Ivanov have released short statements after Jacky "EternalEnvy" Mao accused them of withholding payments.
Last week Mao alleged that Team Secret was taking an unwarranted 10% cut of his winnings and that team captain Clement "Puppey" Ivanov had threatened to fight players during his time on the team.
Secret released a statement that did not directly acknowledge Mao’s blog, but did say that the organisation had made some mistakes.
As a new team we’re determined to provide our players with the care and support that they deserve, whilst enabling them to share in the financial rewards from participating in some of the world’s largest tournaments and there’s obviously a cost in providing that support,” read the statement.
Any organisation that is growing at the rate which we are, will undoubtedly make some mistakes along the way, but it’s our intention to create a professional and structured environment that enables all our players and support staff to feel engaged and share in Team Secret’s success. We’re totally committed to nurturing and protecting our players in order to help them to be the best they can be. That’s what they deserve and it’s what our fans deserve too.”
Puppey also released a short statement in which he said that he does not want to get into a war of words with Envy.
Those that know me well know that I’m not that person described and that’s good enough for me,” said Puppey. What I do want you to know is that I love Dota and I won’t stop trying to become the best Dota player out there. I cherish my teammates who stayed with me. Despite the drama, we still played great scrims, talking about the game and having a lot of fun. It made me feel alive again. Thank you MP, Pieliedie, FoREv and MidOne.”
