Telltale Games has taken inspiration from Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain for its upcoming Jurassic Park series.
The US independent studio, which focuses on developing episodic games, is said has studied the Jurassic Park movies in a bid to create a more faithful ad filmic gameplay experience.
In an interview with the latest issue of Game Informer magazine, executive director Kevin Boyle appeared to say the project has sparked a creative rethink at the Sam & Max studio.
The group is said will prioritise slow-paced character building. “To do so, Telltale is taking inspiration from Heavy Rain,” reads an article on The Escapist, which paraphrased the Game Informer interview.
Universal Studios, which owns the rights to Jurassic Park, is said to have handed Telltale the project because “Universal didn’t want another first-person shooter in the franchise”.
Like Heavy Rain – developed at French studio Quantic Dream – the Jurassic Park games will focus on player choice and how that can manipulate narrative.
The Jurassic Park series is set for a five-episode release on PC and Mac.
Telltale Games has in recent years focused its business on creating episodic games based on film and TV franchises, from CSI to Wallace and Gromit.
