Razer has announced that all proceeds from sales of heartbreaking title That Dragon, Cancer will be given to charity.
The game tells the true story of Joel Green, who was diagnosed with brain cancer at just twelve months old and diagnosed as terminal before turning two. He managed to survive a further four years, before sadly passing away in March 2014.
That Dragon, Cancer has been developed by Joel’s parents Ryan and Amy Green, Josh Larson and the Numinous Games studio. It was largely funded by Ouya and launches today for Razer Forge TV, Windows, Mac and Steam.
Razer, which acquired Ouya last year, has said the proceeds will be split between two cancer charities: Morgan Adams Foundation, which funds cancer research and works with physicians, and Family House SF, which offers free housing to families visiting San Francisco hospitals for prolonged clinical trials and treatment.
“We now have the opportunity to give back to the community in a big way, by bringing this game to the public and by making sure all our proceeds go right back into the fight against cancer,” said Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan.
