GDC is the best place to discover upcoming indie games, and this year’s event sees the return of the UK Game of the Show at GDC, sponsored by MCV’s indie games publisher of the year, Curve Digital.
The trophy will be awarded to the best UK developed, but as yet unreleased, game being shown at the expo. This will be the sixth year of the award, and an outstanding opportunity to shine a spotlight on the best of the UK’s development talent in front of a global audience.
The UK Game of the Show Award has a reputation for excellence, with previous winners including PaperSeven’s Blackwood Crossing, The Escapists, developed by Mouldy Toof, Lost Words from Sketchbook games and 2017 GDC winner, Lazarus by Spilt Milk Studios.
No application is necessary for companies to be up for the award. Anonymous judges will be making their way around the halls throughout Wednesday to assess the top British development talent on display, before the winner is announced at the UK industry drinks taking place at the B Bar, Moscone Centre on the evening of Wednesday 21 March. The winner will take away a bespoke trophy, presented by Curve Digital’s Stuart Dinsey, and will secure a special feature in MCV, the exclusive media partner for the award.
