Theres no stopping Just Dance

Remember, third party titles don’t sell on Wii. Or at least, that’s what some people claim, but the ongoing sales success that is Ubisoft’s Just Dance proves otherwise.

It’s return to the top of the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 this week marks its third full week atop of the listings, having done the unimaginable and gunned down Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from top spot in the second chart week of the year (week ending January 16th).

It subsequently stood firm at no.1 the following week. Its Easter sales triumph comes on the back of a prolonged TV advertising campaign, which saw sales jump a massive 56 per cent week-on-week.

Just Dance is also the fastest-selling new IP from any third-party publisher on the Wii, with global sales having passed 2m.

In total, the game has now spent 12 of 2010’s 13 weeks in the Top 40 and shows no sign of going away any time soon. You can be absolutely certain that Ubisoft is currently planning the next instalment – and anything other than a Christmas 2010 release will be a huge surprise.
