Next generation console is producing quite a number of software sales

Three games sold for every PS4, claims EA

PlayStation 4 customers are buying an average of three games for each console sold, according to Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen.

Speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference, Jorgensen said that Sony’s console was performing incredibly well, and that he expected the Xbox One to give similar results.

"This is a much smoother transition for them and it looks like Microsoft’s will be similar," said Jorgensen as reported by Gamasutra.

"We had a great weekend relative to the console. It looks like the average consumer tie-ratio was about three pieces of software per console, which is exactly what we [projected]… And it looks like one out of every three pieces of software was coming out of Electronic Arts."

To put this in perspective, Sony has claimed an industry record of a million consoles sold in the first 24 hours after launch.

That means that at least three million games have been sold and, if a third of those are EA games, one million titles sold for EA in just one 24 hour period.

EA has a major exclusivity deal on the table with Xbox manufacturer Microsoft for its Mech shoot ’em up Titanfall.
