PR agency Peppermint P set to sponsor awards

TIGA Awards set for January

This year’s TIGA Awards will take place at the Haymarket Hotel in London on January 30th – and organisers promise it will be bigger event than in recent years.

TIGA has expanded the voting categories to bring in two new trophies – Best Technology and Best Cross Media Application of Games. The latter will be awarded to a multi-tasking company which has provided services or technology across video games, the internet, television and film.

The awards will be voted for by TIGA members, who have until January 7th to register their nominations.

The full list of categories is: Best PC Game/Console Game 2007; Best Handheld Console Game 2007; Best Mobile Game 2007; Best Techology 2007; Best Developer 2007; and Best Player (individual) of 2007.

This year’s awards will be sponsored by developer-focused PR agency Peppermint P. Peppermint P Director, Simon Jones added “We’re heavily investing our resources into the development community and this link-up with TIGA is indicative of our commitment to the industry.”

TIGA CEO Fred Hasson added: “For the 2007 awards we wanted to be able to showcase the vast array of talent that is currently residing in the UK and European development community, and some of the feedback we received from past awards has led us to introduce these new categories.

“By giving our members the chance to also vote on the best technological achievements of the past 12 months, as well as embracing the new platforms and techniques in the cross media category, the TIGA awards are now even more reflective of the European development community as a whole.”
