Titanfall 2 is going to have a single-player mode

The sequel to EA’s 2014 mech shooter Titanfall is going to have its own dedicated story mode.

That’s according to an interview on Forbes with lead writer Jesse Stern, who promises that Titanfall 2 be set in a world where ‘science meets magic’, yet will still be ‘grounded, dirty, human and real’.

In addition to the above, Stern says that a Titanfall TV show is in the works in collaboration with studio Lionsgate TV. But Stern warns that cost is a barrier for the show, as it could be ‘very expensive’.

The first Titanfall launched in 2014 as an Xbox console exclusive, and was released PC. It was an online-only multiplayer shooter, and though it did have a story mode, this in fact was series of multiplayer matches with other players.

What inspires us is the junction of technological advancement with the inevitability of conflict and war and what the next war might look like," Stern told Forbes. "In Titanfall 2 there will be a lot of [scenes] where science meets magic, but keeping it grounded and dirty and human and real.”

Titanfall is set for release in the 2017 fiscal year, meaning it will come to stores before April 2017. And where the first Titanfall was an Xbox exclusive, EA has teased that its sequel will be a multiplatform release. There’s also a smartphone game based on the mech shooter in the works.

In the past, Stern served as lead writer on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 1 and 2, and has written for TV shows including NCIS and Insecurities.
