Today’s Top 50 games named

The Times has named its top 50 modern-day games in today’s paper.

Sensibly shunning an ordering system to organise the titles into two categories – ‘Games For Adults’ and ‘Games For All The Family’ – the paper’s Christmas list includes some established modern classics, as well as a few esoteric choices.

It includes EA/Valve’s The Orange Box and Left For Dead I and II, Nintendo’s Wii Fit Plus, Capcom’s Okami and Sony’s Uncharted.

However, it’s the brief blurb under Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that tugs at the heart strings:

‘We were torn between this and Fable 2 for a fantasy adventure, but the tragic experience of one Times reviewer, who spent two sleepless nights playing this before suffering a system crash and the loss of all data, swung it for us.’
