Tomb Raider composer Jason Graves to score Far Cry Primal

Ubisoft Montreal has brought in Jason Graves to compose the soundtrack for upcoming shooter Far Cry Primal.

Graves is best known for his work on triple-A games such as Tomb Raider, Until Dawn, The Order: 1886, Evolve and Dead Space, with two BAFTA awards to his name.

In Far Cry Primal, Graves has utilised as many natural percussion instruments as possible to create a suitable Stone Age atmosphere. Instruments include bones, antlers, clay pots and wooden artifacts.

Each of the in-game factions will also have their own unique sounds and music. For example, the Wenja tribe is represented by a ram’s horn and solo flute, while Aztec death whistles and ritualistic percussion depict the Izilia.

"Jason manages to convey the beauty and the roughness of the land of Oros with his music," said Ubisoft Montreal music designer Jerome Angelot. 

"Far Cry Primal’s score is a fresh mix of savant sound design, epic percussions and attention to detail. It will surprise the players; each time I hear the screams and the chants in the Izila tracks, I get chills."
