PlaySpanâ??s microtransaction models integrated into Firefly

Trilogy launches social game service

Texas-based studio Trilogy has today commercially launched its Firefly development business – focusing on creating social games with a microtransaction plan in place.

While the engine itself is a new technology framework, the platform has been in development for a number of years. A number of titles are already in development using the tech.

And, Develop was told today, Firefly won’t be licensed out to other studios. Trilogy is instead looking for work to build games using the engine.

Key to that plan is a new deal with social game monetisation experts PlaySpan, which will infuse the technology with subscription models tailored to social games.

Together both services will offer an ‘out of the box’ development and monetisation solution.

“We’ve spent the past five years building up an expertise in social and casual games, and now have a complete platform in Firefly to quickly deliver massive, immersive games for leading content publishers,” said Trilogy Studios CEO Michael Pole.

“Together with PlaySpan, we have a full service platform that works universally with third party developer tools and delivers top notch browser-based gameplay and monetization opportunities.”
