Twitch and ESL to host $250,000 Dota 2 tournament at Madison Square Garden

The largest eSports tournament ever held on America’s East Coast will take place this October.

Organised in collaboration between streaming giant Twitch, eSports body the ESL and New York Super Week organisers ReedPOP, ESL One will see eight Dota 2 teams battle for $250,000 in prize money.

Like last year’s event, ESL One will take place in the Theater of New York’s Madison Square Garden on October 3rd and 4th.

The tournament will be part of the New York Super Week, which will conclude with New York Comic Con.

More than two million viewers watched 2014’s proceedings via Twitch, and 2015 will once again see the competition streamed live over the service. JoinDOTA will provide commentary and analysis.

It will also come to cinemas as part of the worldwide ‘eSports in Cinema’ project, which was formed in partnership between ESL and BY Experience. ESL One will be the second event streamed live via the project.
