Twitch signs multimillion dollar partnership with Vainglory eSports

Twitch and mobile MOBA Vainglory developers Super Evil Megacorp have signed an investment deal to see the touchscreen eSport promoted on-site for the next three years.

The game, in which teams of three players compete using touchscreen devices across a single lane MOBA map has grown throughout the last year thanks to seasonal tournaments.

According to a spokesperson for the deal, the partnership plan is for Twitch to expand and grow Vainglory’s presence with key promotions of Vainglory streamers and eSports broadcasts.

The broadcasting site will also dedicate a team to help run Vainglory eSports events, build official eSports websites as well as handle sponsorship and merchandise sales.

The eSports industry has been dominated by PC and console titles, but Vainglory is ushering in a new mobile games movement,” said Nick Allen, Director of eSports Operations at Twitch. The incredible engagement Vainglory has garnered on our platform is testament that our community welcomes the convergence of eSports and mobile gaming.”

Vainglory’s Winter Championships concluded this month, with the European finals held at the Gfinity Arena in London, and viewership totals show audience growth of more than three times the Autumn Championships, drawing more than 1.5 million views on Twitch.
