Twitter to broadcast Oceania League of Legends tournament this weekend

After a busy day announcing franchising for the NA LCS, Riot Games has also announced that the upcoming League of Legends: League of Origin tournament will be streamed on Twitter.

The competition will run on June 3rd and 4th at the ESL Studio in Sydney, Australia. Players from across the Oceania region will battle it out over the weekend, with players from the big leagues in the region coming in as support staff.

Twitter will live stream the whole thing, similar to deal that the social network struck with DreamHack for its CS:GO events and with Microsoft for the Halo World Championship.

“Esports is growing at a rapid pace in Australia and globally, and this collaboration is a great way to tap into the engaged audience of gamers that are already using Twitter as a primary source of content,” said Olly Wilton, head of sports at Twitter Australia. “By partnering with leading esports competitions like League of Origin, we look forward to bringing the best of esports live video and conversation together on Twitter.”
