Ubisoft announces subscription service Uplay+

Ubisoft is the latest company to unveil its subscription service, with Uplay+ revealed during its E3 2019 conference.

PC subscription service Uplay+ will launch on September 3rd with a price tag of $14.99/month (UK pricing TBC). Ubisoft is promising over 100 titles at launch, “including new and upcoming releases, premium editions and DLC and post-launch content.” That includes Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine and Gods & Monsters, both unveiled during Ubisoft’s E3 show tonight, but also Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Watch Dogs: Legion, which both got extensively detailed during the conference.

Brenda Panagrossi

Uplay+ will be available on Stadia from 2020, Ubisoft also revealed. “This is the beginning of our partnership,” Ubisoft’s VP of platform and product management Brenda Panagrossi told Google’s VP Phil Harrison, who was in the audience of the Ubisoft conference.

The publisher also announced that players who sign up for Uplay+ will be automatically enrolled in its betas and early access programs (including the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta starting September 5th).

Classic Ubisoft games will be included such as Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and Beyond Good & Evil.

Players can sign up for a trial from now until August 15th to get free access from from September 3rd to September 30th.

Panagrossi commented: “More players are in the digital ecosystem than ever before, and a digital subscription is one of the easiest ways for players to access content. With Uplay+, players will have unlimited access to our large catalog of games for the first time.”

She added: “The value of Uplay+ is that you not only get access to our upcoming releases, but you also get access to the premium editions, which includes all additional content for the game. For example, the Ghost Recon Breakpoint Ultimate Edition is a $120 value, and Uplay+ subscribers will have access to it as part of their subscription. If you add up the value of all the premium editions of our new releases over the course of a year, the total value is well above the $14.99 per month price of Uplay+.”
