Rainbow Six, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, The Crew, The Division and more using Havok tech

Ubisoft picks Havok Physics for next-gen line-up

Remember when soldiers smashed through the floor in the Rainbow Six: Siege demo? Impressed by the open worlds of Far Cry 4, Tom Clancy’s The Division and The Crew? That’s all partly thanks to Havok.

Ubisoft has announced that it has teamed up with the tools firm to power its biggest next-gen blockbusters, including all the aforementioned titles plus Assassin’s Creed Unity and Watch Dogs. All of these titles use Havok Physics to handle visuals, physics and in-game destruction.

Havok Physics was even deeply integrated into the Disrupt game engine behind Watch Dogs, helping Ubisoft create a complex world where ever object is connected, as well as handle the physics behind the vehicles and car crashes.

“Ubisoft has long enjoyed the support of Havok’s powerful, proven and efficient technologies to bring depth and immersion to the creative visions of our talented game creators,” said Ubisoft lead gameplay designer Danny Belanger.

“Havok has become an indispensable resource to our teams, who can focus on creating new and engrossing game experiences and can rely on Havok’s robust technology to easily integrate into our titles to enhance the immersion, allowing gamers to suspend their disbelief.”

Havok’s VP of worldwide sales and marketing Brian Waddle added: “Games like Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs offer a massive game world, with a huge world and sophisticated tech driving the intense gameplay. We’re proud to provide Havok Physics to help create an even more compelling experience.

"It has been a pleasure to work with the teams at Ubisoft to ensure that each title is equipped with Havok’s strong and reliable tech across genres, systems and games.”
