Francois Pelland to oversee work on 'ambitious' triple-A projects

Ubisoft Quebec appoints new development director

Ubisoft Quebec has appointed Assassin’s Creed III producer Francois Pelland as executive director of development at the studio.

In his new role, Pelland will be responsible for overseeing a number of “ambitious” triple-A projects being developed at the studio.

“I’m very proud to have accepted the position of Executive Director of Development at Ubisoft Quebec,” said Pelland.

“For me, it’s a unique opportunity to be part of this rapidly growing studio and to provide my support for the studio’s ambitious projects in the years to come.”

Ubisoft Quebec MD Nicolas Rioux added: “François is a valuable asset for Ubisoft Quebec. We have ambitious plans for the Quebec City studio and François’s arrival will help position us as a leading creator of online, connected and mobile worlds. It is a vital addition as it will enable us to deliver projects that are among the biggest in the industry.”

Pelland previously headed them team behind Assassin’s Creed III as senior producer. Prior to that, he has also worked as senior development director at EA Montreal on titles such as Army of Two and Army of Two: The 40th Day, as well as holding several key positions at Ubisoft Montreal on projects such as Splinter Cell.

Opened in 2005, Ubisoft Quebec houses 300 employees, and has worked on a number of titles including Rainbow Six, Battle of Giants, Prince of Persie: The Forgotten Sands and Assassin’s Creed III.
