UAE-based studio now holds 25 staff, with plans to hire another 75 in the next five years

Ubisoft ramps up Abu Dhabi recruitment drive

Ubisoft is ramping up its recruitment drive at its Abu Dhabi studio with a number of new job vacancies.

The developer, based in the United Arab Emirates, was launched in October 2011, and is one of the first major game studios in the UAE capital, with the ambition to create 100 new jobs by 2016.

Operations officially began in December 2011, with the studio led by Ubisoft veteran Yannick Theler.

According to a new job listing, the developer now consists of 25 employees, with the plan to still reach 100 between the next three-to-five years.

Current job listings include senior web programmer, international brand manager, art director and UI designer.

The listing also states the developer will focus on creating online content, and to make games “accessible at anytime, anywhere in the world and in any playable device”.

In founding its Abu Dhabi studio, Ubisoft has also partnered with Twofour54 – a government-backed media authority that aims to bolster the region’s media credentials.

“The demographics and the pool of skilled technical talent in the Middle East and North Africa region are key factors that will contribute to the success of this new studio,” said Ubisoft worldwide studios exec director Christine Burgess-Quémard.
