UE3 developers compare battle scars and medals of honour

Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford, Chair’s Geremy Mustard and Midway/Surreal Studio’s Stuart Denman all speak openly about the reasoning for opting to use middleware and the lessons studios must learn when it comes to trusting a tools provider.

Epic Games’ president Michael Capps also offers sage advice on why studios should trust their middleware vendor – pointing to historical precedent in a franchise like Deus Ex as an example of why buying an engine and then trying to rebuild it is a mistake.
