Award will be given to the best unreleased game developed by a British studio

UKIE’s UK Game of the Show set for Gamescom 2016

Trade body UKIE will once again be hosting its UK Game of the Show Award at next months’ Gamescom.

As usual the organisation will be out in force in Cologne, hosting more than 60 UK-based games developers, publishers and service firms – this time on a stand with a ‘Great British Tea Party’ theme.

The award, sponsored by Cubic Motion, will be handed to the UK studio that has the most impressive – but unreleased – title at the show, whether on the expo floor or at the UKIE stand.

An anonymous panel of judges will consider every game during the first two days of Gamescom, before a winner is decided and announced at a UKIE drinks reception on the evening of Thursday, August 18th.

Last year’s winner was Gunnihilation by Robo Pixel Games.

“Every year the UK Game of the Show Award shines a spotlight on the fantastic content that is being developed by UK games makers, so we are really pleased to be bringing the award back to gamescom for its fourth year,” said UKIE CEO Dr Jo Twist.

“We’re delighted to have Cubic Motion supporting the award and look forward to seeing the brilliant talent being shown at this year’s show.”

Cubic Motion chairman Andy Wood added: “We’re thrilled to support the UK Game of the Show Award at Gamescom. The award is a great way to celebrate brilliant games that haven’t been released yet, and champion the high quality of content being produced by British games companies to an international audience. We can’t wait to see the games.”

Gamescom 2016 will run from Wednesday, August 17th to Sunday, August 21st at Cologne’s Koelnmesse exhibition centre.
