Denial Esports’ cut loose roster wins final Overwatch Monthly Melee

Denial Esports’ Overwatch team was one of the many cut loose at the start of may as several endemic organisations walked away from the competitive scene.

However, in a redemption story that’s probably been optioned by Hollywood already, the roster formerly attached to Denial Esports went on to win the last ever Overwatch Monthly Melee.

The team played under the name: Yikes, and snatched $6,000 in a win. It’s the first time the roster had snatched a tournament win.

The tournament played out online, with a four day delay after the bracket phase and before the final due to connectivity issues. Still, Yikes took down Selfless, who were the hot favourites for the win, in the final and wrapped the competition up in a bow as a commiseration prize to themselves after getting cut loose by Denial.

Yikes are currently looking for a new organisation to play for, and will presumably pop up again at the Overwatch Contenders qualifiers in June. This high profile success will no doubt stir up interest in the roster.
