GankStars has won the title of Critical Ops World Champions, snagging the £6,500 prize for first place after victory in the final of the Critical Ops Championship Series.
Critical Ops is a mobile shooter reminiscent of titles like Counter-Strike that is quickly gaining popularity on the esports stage, and this tournament, with a $10,000 prize pool, is the biggest event of the year.
The team played strong throughout the tournament, and beat out SetToDestroyX 2-0, a new team comprised of Critical Ops veterans who caused upset when they rolled over Imperial, one of the strongest teams in competitive Critical Ops. SetToDestroy took home $2,000 for second place.
Imperial finished in fourth place, losing both to SetToDestroyX and eventual third place team Kings Uprising, earning $500 for their troubles.
