Jay ‘Sinatraa’ Won signs $150,000 Overwatch League contract with NRG Esports, according to reports

North American Overwatch player Jay ‘Sinatraa’ Won has become the first Overwatch player to sign on to the Overwatch League according to various sources, with reports suggesting he has signed a contract worth $150,000 per year with NRG Esports.

This is according to reports from ESPN. The salary, if true, is $100,000 per year over the league’s minimum salary requirements, and will also give the 17-year old revenue-sharing options and at least 50 per cent of all team bonuses.

Won will be teaming up once again with the coach from his former organisation, Selfless Gaming, Brad Rajani, who is now the head coach and manager of the NRG Esports Overwatch team. Both Rajani, who was the co-owner of Selfless Gaming and Won departed the organisation when it disbanded in July this year.

Because Won is a minor, the contract was signed by his mother. The $150,000 salary was arrived at due to a bidding war between NRG Esports and Cloud 9, which saw the two organisations fight to sign the player. He is considered one of the best North American DPS players in Overwatch, and has recently drawn a lot of attention while competing with the North American Overwatch World Cup Team for consistently strong performances.
