Nonprofit outfit The Nevada Esports Alliance (NVEA) is co-hosting an esports summit in Las Vegas next month that will invite industry experts to discuss how the city can make the most of the esports boom.

It is estimated that the esports industry will attract around 100,000 visitors to Las Vegas in 2017.

The event will take place on Monday October 16th at UNLV’s William S Boyd School of Law.

“The original point of the Nevada Summits was to get all the relevant stakeholders talking so that everyone understood where everyone else was coming from, what their agendas were and, most importantly, how they might work together to accelerate the growth of esports in Nevada to everyone's benefit,” Esports Integrity Coalition commissioner Ian Smith said.

“This third Summit, the first open to the public, will continue that objective by increasing everyone's broader knowledge through a great speaker lineup and networking opportunities.”

NVEA director and chairman of the Downtown Grand in Las Vegas Seth Schorr added: "Esports is a global phenomenon that Nevada as an international destination is in a unique position to leverage. The NVEA, with its growing membership of nearly two dozen industry stakeholders, continues to provide research and insights into the evolving landscape of esports to help operators develop their own strategies."

Director of sports marketing and special events for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) Lisa Motley offered the following: "In the continuing evolution of Las Vegas, esports is one of the fastest growing event segments and will be a big part of the future landscape of the destination.

"The LVCVA is excited to sponsor the Future of Esports in Nevada Summit to bring together the top minds in the industry to lay the foundation for becoming a major player in the esports arena."
